The "New Order Political Movement" was a political movement of the far-right and extra-parliamentary political movement and terrorist organization. It was behind many terrorist bombings committed with the aim of creating fear and resulting in more support for authoritarianism, known as the strategy of tension. While this has never been definitively proven, it is commonly suspected that ON was linked to the CIA-organized stay-behind network Operation Gladio, and that many Gladio members used CIA-supplied weapons and explosives to supply ON.
History edit
Foundation of the Movement edit
On the 21st December 21 1969, some militants of the "Centro Studi Ordine Nuovo" (New Order's Studies Center) gave birth to the movement. In addition to Clemente Graziani who becomes its national secretary, Elio Massagrande, Roberto Besutti, Antonio Ragusa, Sandro Saccucci (who will later rejoin the MSI), Salvatore Francia and others join.
First activities edit
The first national congress was held in Lucca in October 1970. This organization, in just four years of activity (it will be dissolved by the Minister of the Interior on November 23, 1973), represented the best-known and most important right-wing extra-parliamentary group of the period.
Attempted recreation of the National Fascist Party edit
On the 6th June 1973, the trial against 30 members of the MPON began in Rome. The violation of articles 1, 2, 3, 7 of the Scelba law on the reconstitution of the dissolved Fascist Party had been recorded against all the defendants. The trial ended with thirty sentences, ranging from five years and three months to six months' imprisonment. In 1974 119 militants of the movement were charged with the same crime.
Dissolution of the movement edit
If at that moment an attempt to repress violence appears, with the passing of the years we will see how the dissolution of the New Order will leave dozens of very young extremists in disarray who without political and human control are pushed to give life to clandestine and terrorist groups. The dissolution led the executives to flee abroad: Clemente Graziani fled to avoid arrest first in Greece, then in France, England, Bolivia, until arriving in Paraguay.
Despite being dissolved, it continued to commit attacks as the Ordine Nero (Black Order) until becoming inactive in 1978.
Ideology edit
The New Order was a corporatist, plutocratic, racist, anti-semetic, traditionalist, national-revolutionarist, social darwinist, anti-communist and neo-fascist movement. They were also based on the ideology of the occultist and esotericist Julius Evola and intellectual and esotericist René Guénon.
