Ove Conry Andersson (September 23,1944 - August 12, 2008) was a Swedish who committed a shooting on March 4, 1961, killing one person and wounding six with a Browning pistol before being arrested.

Shooting

On March 4, 1961 in Kungälv, Sweden, at 11:30 p.m., during a school dance in gymnasium school of Thorildskolan. Ove Andersson, 17 years old, armed with a Browning 9 mm pistol entered in the gymnasium and started shooting randomly. People tried to hide under chairs and behind a piano seven people were injured and one of them, Per Håkan Altvall, 18 years old, later died of his wounds, Andersson eventually escaped into the Fontin forest and was chased by the police until he was captured.

Aftermath

Andersson was sentenced to closed psychiatric treatment because he was mentally unbalanced, in part due to the effects of alcohol, at the time of the shooting he is known to have married and had children less than four years after the incident. On August 12, 2008 Ove committed suicide.
