Rameses was an Egyptian Pharoah who ruled Egypt after the death of his father Pharoah Seti I. There was still slavery for the Hebrews in his time which was the cause of Moses unleashing the 10 Plagues of Egypt. Finally after giving in to the death of the First born Rameses gave in and let the hebrews go.
In popular culture
- In the 1956 film The Ten Commandments Rameses is shown as a vengeful tyrant as well as the main antagonist of the film.
- He also serves as themain villain in The Prince of Egypt where he is shown as Moses' brother and the de-facto villain. In the film he is voiced by Ralph Fiennes.
