Inside the bathroom, Robert assembled a shotgun from inside his backpack. As he left the bathroom, he pulled it out and fired a shot in the direction of a lunch table, injuring a special needs student critically. He was subdued by 2 teachers and a school district member and forced to the wall near the vending machines. During the struggle, Gladden Jr. fired a shot into the ceiling but the shot did not injure anybody. ==Motive== Robert Gladden Jr. had depression and suicidal thoughts and wanted to take out others before himself, stated during interrogation. It was also stated that Robert had an interest in the [[Eric Harris|Columbine]] [[Dylan Klebold|shooters]], as well as additionally having an addiction to drugs. ==Aftermath== Robert Gladden Jr. was found guilty of attempted murder and was originally sentenced to a life sentence but was reduced to 35 years in prison.
