He was considered to be one of America's most prolific serial killers. Though he was only convicted of 8 murders, Alcala has claimed to be responsible for around 30 murders. His true victim count remains unknown, but police believe that it could possibly be as high as 130. He was known as '''the Dating Game Killer''' because of his 1978 appearance on the television show ''The Dating Game'' in the midst of his murder spree.
