He is currently serving a life sentence for the murder of his mother in 2020. He is known for his roles in ''Diary of a Wimpy Kid'' (2010), ''The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus'' (2009) and ''Riverdale'' (2019). ==Biography== Ryan Grantham was born to Barbara Waite in British Columbia, Canada. He has a sister. He completed his education at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia. Grantham portrayed teenager Jeffery Augustine on the horror-crime series "Riverdale," which is inspired by the "Archie" comic book series. He appears in Season 4 for killing a main character, Fred Andrews, with his father's truck. His other credits include minor roles in the TV series "Supernatural" and the 2010 movie "Diary of a Wimpy Kid." On March 31, 2020, Grantham shot his 64-year-old mother at home in Squamish, British Columbia. He filmed the incident with a portable video camera. Grantham had next planned to assassinate Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at his home in Rideau Cottage, or instead to carry out a mass shooting, possibly on the campus of Simon Fraser University or the Lions Gate Bridge. Grantham drove 200 km (120 mi) to the town of Hope, before changing his mind and driving to Vancouver, where he confessed to police to killing his mother. Grantham has remained in custody since his arrest. On September 23, 2022, Grantham pleaded guilty to second degree murder, after initially being charged with first degree murder. During the trial, his lawyers stated he had anxiety, clinical depression and suicidal thoughts prior to his crime, which prosecutors believe was exacerbated by isolation, smoking an excessive amount of cannabis and watching gory videos on the Internet. They also attempted to get him placed in a non-maximum security prison after claiming that his small size would make him a target. In a journal entry written the day of the killing, Grantham reportedly apologized to his family and said "no one" would understand him. Grantham was sentenced to life in prison, and will be eligible for parole in 14 years.
