'''Serzh Azati Sarsgyan''' (born June 30, 1954) is an Armenian politician who served as President of Armenia from 2008 to 2018 as well as Prime Minister from 2007 to 2008, serving as Defense Minister prior to his ascension. Critics have said he became the President through a series of crony deals and contested elections. His rule has been marked with corruption, being accused of embezzling over $1 million. Multiple protests have occurred demanding his resignation, which finally occurred in 2018. He was charged with corruption in 2019.
