He suffered from depression for six months and even attempted suicide by ingesting Lysol, a strong chemical used in soaps, but survived. He and Konkordia were suitors. Sigurbjörn never revealed why he killed Konkordia, but apparently it was all a case of jealousy, plus the fact that he was probably very drunk days before the murder may have influenced his actions. ==The Murder== On Sunday, January 6, 1957 in Reykjavík, Iceland Sigurbjörn went to see a man who had a rifle in Hveragerði and asked if he could borrow the rifle with the excuse of because a calf had broken its leg and therefore had to be shot and the man agreed and handed him the three-shot rifle. He way back to the Reykjavík Horticultural School, he had lunch and played a game of chess with a person. Around noon Sigurbjörn got up, took the rifle and went to the cafeteria kitchen, where there were four women, including Konkordia. Sigurbjörn asked the housekeeper who was there if anything was missing from the barn, then turned to Konkordía and said "Well, my Day," pointed the rifle at her and fired. The shot went through Konkordia's stomach, who fell to the ground and died a few minutes later, bleeding to death. Sigurbjörn calmly left the scene and went to his room in the staff building. ==Aftermath== Sigurbjörn was found in his room an hour after the incident with the rifle and two bullets on the table and was transferred and locked in a cell in Skólavörðustíg prison. A neurological examination determined that Sigurbjörn was normal but suffered from a temporary drinking disorder and dipsomania. in September 1957 he was tried at the Árnes County Criminal Court in Selfoss and fourteen people appeared Sigurbjörn admitted to the act but did not reveal why and also said that he did not plan to kill Konkordía. He said that when he arrived in the kitchen he went into a frenzy and made the decision, but all indications are that he had planned it, as he lied to acquire the rifle. He was sentenced to twelve years in prison, but in March 1958 the Supreme Court increased his sentence to four years, the longest since 1940 in Iceland. Sigurbjörn died in 1995. ==Gallery== <gallery> Konkordía-Jónatansdóttir.png|Konkordía Jónatansdóttir Garðyrkjuskóli.png|the School of Horticulture in Reykjavik </gallery> [[Category:Male]] [[Category:Murderer]] [[Category:School Shooters]] [[Category:Iceland]] [[Category:Modern Villains]] [[Category:European Villains]] [[Category:Scandinavia]]
