'''Stephen Buchanan''' is a former military veteran and child predator who was best known for being featured on Dateline's ''[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/To_Catch_a_Predator To Catch A Predator]''. He is a former soldier in the Iraq War who attempted to engage sexual activity with a 13-year-old girl. He was caught on camera telling the underage girl (who was a decoy for the show) to get in his car, attempting to lure her instead of walking inside her home. He was eventually busted and caught by Chris Hansen amid several persistant attempts.

The authorities found a loaded handgun, duct tape, a camera, and a box of condoms in Stephen's car. They additionally found a "kill kit", which raised the frightening possibility that Stephen could have resorted to murdering his victim.

== Criminal Charges ==
Buchanan was convicted and sentenced to three years in prison. He was additionally sentenced to ten years probation, as well as ten years as a registered sex offender. He has not re-offended since.
