Sudesh Mamoor Faraz Amman (died February 2, 2020) was an Islamic terrorist who was convicted of distributing terrorist propaganda in 2018. After his release, he carried out an attack in London, wounding two people and indirectly wounding a third before being killed by police.
First conviction edit
Amman first came to the attention of police when he shared a photo of two guns and a knife with the caption "Armed n rdy #april 3" on Telegram, along with images of a gay rights activist talking at Speaker's Corner with the tag "...all unite together to attack one another. He will be there this Sunday at Hyde Park".
He was arrested on suspicion of planning a terrorist attack and his house was searched. Police discovered instructional manuals on how to kill people, and recovered more than 349,000 media files containing Islamic propaganda from his computer. Amman was charged with owning terrorist propaganda and sentenced to three years in prison, however due to the UK's early release program he was paroled in January 2020.
Before the attack edit
Shortly before the attack that resulted in Amman's death, he shared an al-Qaeda publication with his family and told a friend "The Islamic State is here to stay" (despite Islamic State and al-Qaeda being rivals). Amman also said to his girlfriend that she should kill her unbelieving parents. According to family posts, Amman radicalized his younger siblings with terrorist propaganda, at one point telling a family member that it was OK to rape Yazidi women because in the Koran it says men are allowed to rape slaves.
2020 Streatham attack edit
On February 2, 2020, Amman stole a knife from a shop on Streatham High Street in London and non-fatally stabbed two bystanders. Reportedly, he was wearing a fake suicide vest in a similar fashion to the London Bridge attackers. Armed police chased Amman down the road and shot him outside a chemist's, killing him and wounding a third bystander who was hit by broken glass.
Due to the attack being perpetrated by a man who was released early from prison despite being a terrorist, which was already in the headlines due to the 2019 Fishmonger's Hall attack by Usman Khan, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson passed the Terrorist Offender's Bill, ending early releases for terrorists.
