At the time, virtually every white man believed he was superior to Blacks, Indians, and women. That does not mean they hated them! Men still loved women and hatred for the blacks came as a result of the Civil War. Abraham Lincoln and John Wilkes Booth did not hate the black man. They felt compassion for them. During this time when slavery was legal, there were terrorist who killed slave owners and set their slaves free. These terrorist were called Radical Republicans. These Radical Republicans hated slavery so much that they would burn homes and fields of the slave owners. They would kill their cattle and they had no problems killing the slave owner or his family members. They were terrorist in the true sense of the word. John Wilkes Booth fight was with the Radical Republicans and they were the reason he became a southern sympathizer.
