Thomas Sweatt is a serial arsonist who is perhaps one of the most prolific arsonists in American history.

Sweatt was responsible for deliberately causing over 400 fires around Washington D.C. between 2003-2004. A number of innocents have died from the fires he caused. He was arrested in 2005, where he confessed to starting over 400 fires in the United States. A motive for his fires has been kept secret by him, so it is unknown what his intention of the fires was.

  • He attempted to join the U.S. Navy in the 1970s, but was turned away.
  • He had a history of stalking people he found "attractive" and following them home. Some of which he would set fire and vandalize their home, car, or property.
