File:Thutmose II.jpg

Thutmose II was a pharaoh of Egypt's so called New Kingdom, the son and sucessor of Thutmose I and one of his minor wives, Mutnofret.

Unlike his father, who was a powerful warrior, Thutmose was physically weak and frail, and did not participate actively on battles. However, he still managed to leave evidence of his cruelty, which shouldn´t be surprising considering his father's nature.

An Egyptian sign found near Aswan, for example, contains a written order from Thutmose II to his soldiers, telling them to massacre all local men except for the little son of the local ruler, whom he wanted to kill by himself.

He also ordered his armies to attack nomadic tribes and kill or enslave all of their members.
