Travis Jeffrey Reinking (born February 1, 1989) is an American man responsible for a mass shooting at a Waffle House restaurant in Nashville, Tennessee on April 22, 2018. He is responsible for the death of four people and injuring two more. James Shaw Jr., an unarmed customer, wrestled his weapon, an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle, away from him, ending his rampage. Reinking subsequently fled the scene, but was apprehended the following day.
Reinking was charged with four counts of criminal homicide, four counts of attempted homicide, and one count of having a firearm while committing a dangerous felony. Forensic psychologists who examined Reinking determined that he suffered from severe schizophrenia, and in August 2018 a judge found Reinking incompetent to stand trial and ordered him committed to a mental hospital for treatment.
