[[File:Solomon van roosevelt.jpg|thumb|168x168px]] '''Van Roosevelt Solomon '''(December 1, 1943 - February 21, 1985) was an American minister and felon who was executed for fatally shooting Roger Dennis Tackett during an armed robbery. Van Roosevelt Solomon, along with [[Brandon Astor Jones]], robbed a convenience store in Georgia in 1979. The manager, Roger Tackett, was shot five times by Solomon and Jones to try and make him tell where the money was. Tackett died. At the trial, Solomon's attorney's tried to claim that only Jones had shot Tackett. That argument was rejected because both of them had guns and both of them had gunpowder residue from shooting Tackett. Both men were sentenced to death. Solomon was executed by electric chair on February 21, 1985.
