'''Vsevolod Apollonovych Balitsky''' (27th November 1892 - 27th November 1937) was a Ukrainian member of the [[Communist Party of the Soviet Union]] and a senior member of the [[NKVD]]. He was responsible for overseeing [[The Holodomor]] in Ukraine, and later became head of the far east branch of the NKVD following the execution of his predecessor [[Terenty Deribas]]. On 7th July 1937, [[Stalin]], who sought to have him removed from his position as part of the [[Great Purge]], had [[Genrikh Lyushkov]] order Balitsky's arrest. He was sentenced to death and shot on 27th November 1937.
