William Mintram (February 10th, 1866 - April 15th, 1912) was a fireman on the RMS Titanic. He died when the Titanic sank. Prior to embarking on the Titanic, Mintram had served a month of hard labour for the attempted murder of a man named George Barton during an 1882 pub brawl, and had served time in prison for drunkenness and assaulting a police officer. On October 18th, 1902, Mintram, while drunk, hit his wife before stabbing her to death during an argument. He was convicted of manslaughter and imprisoned in Portland Convict Prison, Dorset, until 1911. When the RMS Titanic hit an iceberg and sank on April 15th, 1912, both Mintram and his son-in-law Walter Hurst were on board. Mintram managed to get a lifejacket, but gave it to Hurst, who survived the disaster. Mintram died when the Titanic sank. His body was never found.
