William Clarke Quantrill is a Confederate Guerilla leader best known for being the ringleader of the Confederate guerilla group, "Quantrill's Raiders", a group infamous for having brothers Jesse and Frank James.
In August 1863, Quantrill led an attack on Lawrence, Kansas, murdering over 180 civilians. The attack was supposedly in retaliation for the casualties caused when the women's jail collapsed.
