* January 11 - 12-year old Shanda Sharer is [[Kidnapping|kidnapped]], [[torture]]d, and [[murder]]ed by [[Melinda Loveless]], [[Laurie Tackett]], [[Hope Rippey]], and [[Toni Lawrence]] in one of the worst crimes to occur in the history of the state of Indiana.
