Adam Johnson (b. July 14, 1987) is an English football player who had a career spanning many big clubs and even playing at an international level for England. In 2015 he was charged with three counts of sexual activity with a child under the age of 16, alleging inappropriate conduct with a 15-year-old girl; with the age of consent across the UK is 16.
He ultimately pleaded guilty to count one, which alleged kissing. In March 2016 he was found guilty at trial of count two, which alleged digital penetration of the victim. He was acquitted of a third count. Sentenced to five years in prison, his contracts with both his team (Sunderland) and sponsor Adidas were terminated. He was later revealed to have abused the girl while his wife was pregnant.
