Amber Laura Heard (born April 22, 1986) is an American controversial actress best known for her roles in Pineapple Express, Never Back Down, and the DC Extended Universe.

Early life edit
Amber Laura Heard was born and raised in the outside of Austin, Texas on April 22, 1986 to David Clinton Heard, a contractor and Paige Parsons, an internet researcher and has a sister by the name of Whitney. However it turns out that Amber had a rough childhood. She was raised in an extremely strict, religious, Catholic and conservative upbringing which incited amber to slowly develop an atheistic, cynical and rebellious outlook on life.
Aside from religious and strict, her home was also chaotic and broken because her father was violent and abusive towards her mother, struggled with drug abuse and alcoholism though Amber states that she still “loved” him.
He was also actively involved in criminal activities because he conducted illegal dogfight rings that would one day lead to his arrest. However despite being an alcoholic, druggie, crook and abuser, her father shared his hobbies with his daughter as he trained horses in his free time and he passed down this southern spirit to his daughter Amber since she grew up riding horses, hunting, and fishing with him. This implies that Amber probably had a good relationship with her father despite the abusive upbringing.
Unfortunately, one day Heard suffered the severe tragedy of losing her closest best friend in a car accident at the age of 16 which traumatized and scarred her for life and made her grow disenchanted with religion and veered toward atheism as she was heavily influenced by Ayn Rand's ideas around this time.

Growing up, Heard began her acting career with the sports drama ‘Friday Night Lights’ and soon appeared in various small characters. Her breakthrough arrived when she was recognized as a supporting actress in several box-office successes, including ‘Pineapple Express’ and ‘Never Back Down’. She gained recognition from these movies and soon began to star as the lead actress. She has since been a part of several commercially successful films and has been noticed for her taut and convincing performances. Raised in Austin, Heard is known to have made her way through Hollywood through grit and determination as she came from a humble background. Apart from films, Heard is an activist as well. She has spoken openly and raised awareness about domestic violence and sexual abuse.
Mental health issues
Amber Heard claims that she has post-traumatic stress disorder. However psychologist Shannon Curry has testified that Heard has both borderline personality disorder and histrionic personality disorder (a form of narcissistic personality disorder).
Due to her condition, Heard is very concerned with image, prone to cruelty and blaming others, and unable to admit responsibility for doing something wrong, Curry testified, as reported in Newsweek.
Abuse allegations edit
In 2016, Heard initiated divorce proceedings against her husband, actor Johnny Depp. During the divorce proceedings, which lasted until January 2017, Heard accused Depp of abusing her throughout the marriage, usually while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Although Depp denied the allegations, Heard was ultimately paid a settlement of $7 million, which she pledged to donate to the ACLU and the LA Children's Hospital.
In 2018, during the below-mentioned lawsuit Depp v News Group Newspapers LTD, Depp claimed that Heard had falsely accused him and that she had in fact been the abuser. Depp listed multiple occasions on which he claimed Heard had attacked him, most notably in March 2015 when she allegedly threw vodka bottles at him and severed his finger on the set of Pirates of the Caribbean. The case continued until 2020. During the case, leaked audio surfaced of a phone call between the two in which Heard admitted to attempting to overpower Depp during a fight and mocked him for thinking that people would believe a man could be an abuse victim. She also admitted throwing a mineral can at his head during the same fight and did not deny that she had started most of the physical incidents between them. Around this time, it surfaced that Heard had been arrested in 2009 for assaulting her then-girlfriend Tasya Van Ree at an airport, although Van Ree later spoke out in support of Heard. Heard's former assistant Kate James also accused her of verbal abuse and repeated drug use. Despite this, Depp still lost the case as the judge ruled that Depp had abused Heard (it should be noted that just because Heard abused Depp, that does not mean that Depp did not abuse her). Despite this ruling, Heard's public image was severely damaged.
In 2019, Depp sued Heard over her claims. During the proceedings in 2022, witnesses described searching for Depp's severed finger after it was sliced off. A recording was also played of an argument between Heard and Depp in which Heard admitted to hitting Depp and called him a "baby" for crying. Former security agent Sean Bett stated that he had seen Depp sustain multiple facial injuries, photos of which were presented to the court.
Legal proceedings in the Depp case edit
In June 2018, Depp brought a libel lawsuit in the UK against News Group Newspapers (NGN), the company publishing The Sun, which had called him a "wife beater" in an April 2018 article. Heard was a key witness for NGN during the highly publicized trial in July 2020.
In November 2020, the High Court of Justice ruled that Depp had lost his claim and that while the evidence suggested Heard had abused Depp, this did not mean she was not abused by him and that "the great majority of alleged assaults of Ms. Heard by Mr. Depp [12 out of the 14] have been proved to the civil standard", rejecting any notion of a hoax against him. The verdict also found that Heard's career and activism had been negatively affected by making the abuse public. Depp's appeal to overturn the verdict was rejected in March 2021.
In early 2019, Depp sued Heard for defamation over an op-ed she wrote about her experiences of leaving an abusive relationship, which was published by The Washington Post in December 2018. Depp also alleged that Heard had been the abuser, and that her allegations constituted a hoax against him. The case went on trial in Fairfax County, Virginia in April 2022. Jury deliberations began on May 27, 2022. On June 1, 2022, Depp won the case. Heard was ordered to pay $10.35 million to Depp and Depp was required to pay $2 million to Heard as Depp’s attorneys argued that she messed up the apartment.
