~ Arda Küçükyetim in his manifesto. |
Arda Küçükyetim (born 2006) is a Turkish mass stabber who is responsible for the livestreamed-mass stabbing incident that occured on August 12, 2024 in Tepebaşı, Eskişehir, Turkey.
Early life[edit]
Locals say that Küçükyetim's parents work in the automotive industry. Küçükyetim, who also has a sibling, is known as an "introvert" in his circle. The biggest passion of Küçükyetim, who is said to not have many friends, is computers. According to what is said, he always sits at home and spends time in front of the computer. When he goes out, he goes to the park with his family two or three days a week.
Internet activity[edit]
Going by the pseudonym "Skreewie" (reference to the white supremacist rock band Skrewdriver) Küçükyetim was an active user on Steam, suicide forums, and a platform used by neo-Fascists called Vidlii.
Before the attack, he uploaded an 18-page manifesto titled "Mass Cleaner El Kitabı" (English: Mass Cleaner Handbook) to the Internet, along with other mass murderers' manifestos and bomb-making dossiers. The manifesto contained hate speech against Kurds, Jews, Blacks, Syrians and homosexuals. He praised Anders Behring Breivik, Brenton Tarrant (which is ironic because both Breivik and Tarrant are Turkophobes), Timothy McVeigh and Stephen Paddock and referred to them as modern-day saints. Additionally, the manifesto included photos of Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, Anton Lundin Pettersson and Pekka-Eric Auvinen.
Eskişehir mass stabbing[edit]
During the attack Küçükyetim had worn a t-shirt that reads "Humanity is Overrated" a WWII German helmet, a skull mask, an assault vest and military style cargo pants. Küçükyetim, who had the Nazis' "Black Sun" emblem attached to his chest, attacked people with a knife and an axe in Tepebaşı, injuring five people. He livestreamed the whole attack on the streaming platform Kick.
Küçükyetim was neutralized by the police and taken into custody. Küçükyetim was arrested by the court. Medical teams came to the scene and took the five injured people to Eskişehir City Hospital. Two of the injured had life-threatening conditions but were recovered.
Aftermath[edit]
After the attack, Küçükyetim admitted that he had planned the attack with a younger online friend of his, an Eastern European national with the pseudonym "Fjotolf Hansen" (a reference to Breivik), whom he met online.
In the 37-page indictment accepted by the Eskişehir 6th High Criminal Court, it was requested that the arrested defendant Arda Küçükyetim who was 18 years old when he committed the incident, be sentenced to 100 years in prison for 5 counts of "attempted premeditated murder" and up to 8 years in prison for "threatening to create fear and panic among the public."
Arda Küçükyetim's first hearing lasted approximately 2.5 hours. The defendant in custody, Arda Küçükyetim, and the defendant not in custody, high school student H.Y., made their defenses. Tevfik Arslan (73), Cumali Özemek (59), Naşit Özyürek (89), Metin Korkmaz (66) and Cemal Altıntaş (53), who were injured in the knife attack by the defendant Küçükyetim, gave their statements in court and said that they complained about the defendant. After all the defenses, the court ruled that Arda Küçükyetim's detention should continue and adjourned the hearing until May 23. Küçükyetim attended the hearing wearing a suit and expressed his regret. He also blamed computer games.
Arda Küçükyetim was one of the mass attackers who inspired Samantha Rupnow and Solomon Henderson to commit their school shootings. Rupnow called him an "ultimate saint" on her manifesto and Henderson's manifesto included Küçükyetim's photo among other attackers.
