Areum Lee (이아름) is a South Korean woman living in Australia and member of WOMAD, a South Korean radical feminist organisation. On 19 November 2017, she posted on the WOMAD website claiming to have raped an Australian boy. She later posted a video of the crime on the site. Many Internet users were shocked by this, although the majority of WOMAD members supported her, and a social media campaign to find her was started. The day after the video was posted, the Australian Federal Police announced that Areum Lee had been arrested in Darwin and charged with producing child pornography, much to the shock of many WOMAD members, who started an unpopular campaign to have her released. She was ultimately released awaiting trial, only to be deported under the Migration Act due to a bureaucratic error.
