History edit

Early years edit

In 1995, the three friends Mario Maccione, Fabio Tollis and Massimiliano Magni meets beetwen each other daily and they decied to create a gruop named "Ferocity" out of their passion for brutal death metal. In this period, they have done some lives in their hometown, appearing flashy and captivating. But the founder of the group, Mario Maccione, moves to Brugherio, in the province of Monza, still in Lombardy. In Brugherio, he meets Marco Zampollo and Pietro Guerrieri who have become new members of the band. After this moment, the group consolidates more and expands. They they roam the city of Milan where they frequent music shops, but only two of Milan's places receive more attention from the band members: the Midnight Local (metal-themed brewery) and Sinigaglia Fair (a market area). In Sinigaglia, Paolo Leoni and Nicola Sapone join the band. Also, Nicola Sapone helps the band to enlist Andrea Volpe in the group. In this period, the only illegal actions committed by the band were drug dealing and drug use, as most of the band members had problems with drug addiction.

Becoming a gang edit

However, the band doesn't want to express themselves only through music, the members now want to express their malaise through even petty crimes in Milan by night. The band still remains a metal band, but now it takes on more macabre and driven connotations than before; the ways of dressing become darker, the actions more extreme and the decoration of their lives more satanic. During this period, Paolo Leoni starts to assert himself in the band, driving them into having more relationship with the occult and satanic. After this, the band creates challenges to test the psyche and body of the members.

Fully transforming into a sect edit

Authoritarian hierarchies develop in the band that establish rules, ways of behaving and actions to be performed. In this context, each member is driven by its comrades to commit horrible actions in the name of acid satanism, but without a real purpose. Paolo Leoni gains more and more authority in the band and decreeing who are the most deserving of the group through challenges and violent actions.

First crime edit

In 1997, the band is renamed "Beasts of Satan" and starts to commit actual crimes such like vandalism in underground and real satanic rituals. But they didn't stop there and started to plan much more henious actions. Paolo Leoni decided that it is time to commit the first murder.

The first victims are Chiara Marino, Paolo's ex-girlfriend and Fabio Tollis' girlfriend, and Fabio Tollis himself. They have choosen these targents, since they damaged Paolo Leoni's reputation. So, on the night beetwen 31st December 1997 and the 1st January 1998, Fabio and Chiara enter the car of their comrades Pietro Guerrieri. Pietro told the couple that they had to face an impossible challenge: try to survive in the car while it was burning. Paolo and Pietro put some firecrackers in the tank of the car, so it would provoke an explosion. Fortunately, the arson didn't go as planned and the couple survived. But this isn't the last time the band tried to kill them. In fact, on 17th January 1998, another challenge is announced and in this one wil have to prove who's the strongest in the band. In other words, it's a fight to death. The fight occurs during the night in a forest at Somma Lombardo. Through the use of 2 knives and a carpenter's sledgehammer, Nicola Sapone lashes out at Chiara Marino while Mario and Andrea go against Fabio. The couple is brutally murdered and their corpses are hidden in a pit nearby.

Death of Andrea Bontade edit

On the 21st September 1998, Andrea Bontade dies, because he crashed his car into a wall. The reason of his death is due to the fact that he was forced by the band to overdosing on drugs and drinking too much alcohol, always being forced by the band members. The band members did everything to induce to die, since he disrepected them by not showing himself on the where Fabio Tollis and Chiara Marino were killed.

Pezzotta Murder edit

On the 24th January 2004, Nicola Sapone orders Andrea Volpe to kill Mariangela Pezzota, Andrea Volpe's ex-girlfriend, since she knows too much details about the death of Fabio Tollis and Chiara Marino.

So, Volpe invites Pezzotta to dinner in the Golasecca hut under the pretext of a videotape to be returned. While Elisabetta Ballarin, her new girlfriend, is in the kitchen preparing two doses of speedball, he shoots her twice in the face, without killing her. Volpe and Ballarin, in altered conditions due to the drugs they had taken, call Sapone, who finishes off Mariangela Pezzota with a shovel in the greenhouse in front of the chalet. He returns to his own home in Dairago, near Legnano. Before leaving, he orders to wash away all traces of blood and to bury Pezzotta in the garden, pushing his car into the river. Once Pezzotta is buried, Ballarin drives the victim's car to make it slide into the Villoresi canal near the Panperduto dam in Somma Lombardo with Volpe following her in his car. However, she is unable to drive the car into the river and gets stuck on a low wall, due to the altered psychophysical conditions due to the use of cocaine and heroin. Volpe gets out of his car and notices the condition of the Ballarin, now close to collapse. So, she goes to a nearby parking lot, calling for help and going into a rage. He declares to a carabinieri patrol who initially rushed to the scene that he and his girlfriend had been attacked by some thugs, while they were secluded in the car, but the carabinieri quickly realize that in reality the couple had had a car accident caused from taking drugs and alcohol and had both young people transported to the hospital. Here Elisabetta, still under the influence of the drug, begins to grumble and repeat seemingly disconnected phrases concerning the death of a certain "Mariangela". At this point the carabinieri and the prosecutor begin to investigate and the following day Pezzotta's body is found in the greenhouse of the Ballarin chalet, where she had been buried and she still breathed.

Trials edit

From the 31st January 2006 to the 15th May 2007, the court of assizes of Busto Arsizio, Milan and Brescia sentence the band members to prison. On the 25th October 2007, the Court of Cassation conferms such sentences.

Trivia edit

  • The concerts they had done under the name "Ferocity" were festooned with graves, skeletons, and other macabre-and-occult-themed decorations.
  • The band members also used codenames.
  • They tested their resistance by putting out the cigarettes on themselves, violently biting each other, drinking alcohol to the limit and throwing themselves off very high places.
  • Although the band continued its horrible actions without problems, there have been members who criticized those actions. For example, Mario Maccione, original founder of the band, notices these things in the band and doesn't understand them.
  • Chiara Marino, first murdered victim of the band, was the only female to have a relationship with the band.
    • Also, she was targeted by the band before Andrea Volpe's arrival in the band.
  • About their first murder, there are various contradictory versions of the story such as that Pietro never told them about the "challenge" and just get out the car and that there was someone else who pushed Fabio and Chiara to enter the car.
  • Actually, Fabio Tollis was positively impressed by the first attempted murder made against him, thinking of it as a "test of courage" like the others that came before.
  • In 2012, a movie called "In Nomine Satan" was made as a way to remember the story of the group.
