He was the author of the murder of the Mapuche farmer Camilo Catrillanca, during a police operation. ==Catrillanca murder== On November 14, 2018, during a police operation in the community of Temucuicui carried out by the Comando Jungla (a unit of the GOPE), they detained the Mapuche farmer Camilo Catrillanca, who was driving his tractor with a teenager with an unknown name nicknamed "M.A.C.P.". It is there that Carlos, abusing his power as a policeman, shot Catrillanca in the head, killing him immediately. Later, Carlos along with other police officers arrest M.A.C.P, who later claimed to be tortured by the police. ==Investigation== According to the first versions given by the police, Catrillanca was linked to a group of car thieves, and that Catrillanca had been armed and first fired at the policemen. Later, these statements would be denied, and videos would come to light where it was possible to see how Catrillanca was unarmed. Later Carlos would say that the first versions were false and that they had been forced to lie, but apparently he did not feel regret for killing Catrillanca. ==Sentence== On January 7, 2021, Carlos Alarcón was found guilty of the murder of Catrillanca and the attempted murder of M.A.C.P., while 6 other people were found guilty of obstruction of the investigation. Finally, Carlos was sentenced to 16 years in prison on January 28.
