Chante Jawan Mallard is a woman from Fort Worth, Texas, convicted of the murder of Gregory Glenn Biggs in 2001.

Murder edit

On 26 October 2001, Mallard was driving home while under the influence of marijuana, ecstasy and alcohol when her car hit the homeless pedestrian Gregory Glenn Biggs. The force of the impact left Biggs lodged in the car's windscreen. Rather than call an ambulance, Mallard drove home with Biggs still lodged in her windscreen, parked in the garage and had sex with her boyfriend in the house, leaving the critically injured Biggs in the garage. Despite being a former nurse's aide, Mallard decided not to administer first aid or call emergency services over the next few days, and Biggs eventually died of his injuries a day or two later. Mallard and two accomplices then dumped Biggs's body in a nearby park and burned the car in order to conceal any evidence of a crash.

Trial and conviction edit

Four months after the crash, Mallard became a suspect in the case when her friend reported that Mallard had laughed and bragged about "hitting some white guy" at a party. Mallard was arrested and charged with murder for her failure to report the accident. During the trial, several medical examiners testified that Biggs would have survived if Mallard had called emergency services. Mallard was ultimately convicted of murder and evidence tampering and sentenced to two concurrent sentences of 50 years and 10 years for each respective charge. She will be eligible for parole in 2027.
