Chiara Pasic is a Croatian woman who suffocated her three-year-old son and threw his corpse in a river so that she could go on holiday.

Pasic suffocated her son Denis with a pillow in 2017 after deciding that she would be prevented from going on holiday to Macedonia if she had to look after him before disposing of his corpse in a river. She then reported Denis as missing and claimed she had lost him in a children's park, but admitted she killed him after a matter of hours. In April 2018, she was convicted of his murder and sentenced to 33 years in prison. She appealed her sentence on the grounds that it was too harsh, but the Croatian Court of Appeal rejected her appeal on 3 March 2020 on the grounds that she had showed a level of planning and ruthlessness in the murder that made her sentence justified.
