From Real-Life Villains

Coty Scott Taylor (1990 - February 13, 2020) was an American man responsible for the February 2020 murder of 6-year old Faye Marie Swetlik in Cayce, South Carolina.

Biography[edit]

Taylor graduated from Bluffton High School in 2007, and later enrolled at The University of South Carolina Beaufort in the fall of 2007. He transferred to the Columbia campus in 2008. According to the university, he was a math major. Taylor withdrew in the spring of 2009, and there is no record of his graduation.

According to the corporate offices of Jimmy Johns, Taylor stopped working there in 2015.

At this time of his death, Taylor was the general manager of a Wingstop location in West Columbia. He began his employment there in June of 2016, according to the company.

On February 10, 2020, Faye Swetlik was abducted from her front yard shortly after getting home from school. Three days later, her body was found in a wooded area of her neighborhood near an auto parts store. Autopsy showed that she had died from asphyxiation, but it has not been made public if it was from strangling or suffocation.

During the period that Swetlik was missing, Taylor was questioned by the police and his house was searched. Police stated that he was cooperative and didn't give any indication that he may be involved, and his home showed no indications of this either. He had no prior criminal record. The same day Swetlik's body was found, Taylor committed suicide inside his home by slitting his own throat. Police were able to find Swetlik's DNA inside his home and some of her clothes in his dumpster. Using this evidence, they determined that he killed Swetlik just hours after abducting her.

In July 2021, new details revealed that Taylor was part of the online incel community.

Taylor's motive for abducting and murdering Swetlik is a mystery, and due to Taylor's suicide, will most likely remain so.
