While claiming he was acting as a pedophile hunter, Chapman took hundreds of [[child pornography]] images and sent them to four different men online, although no children from the school were involved. It was also revealed that, as part of his teaching role, Chapman had taught courses about safeguarding children from online abuse, with his personal knowledge being an "aggravating factor" in the lessons. After Chapman was arrested, he was fired from his job and banned from teaching. He was later sentenced to 30 months in prison and forced to register as a sex offender, despite his protests that he was genuinely sorry for his crimes.
