Daniel Hanmer Wells was an American general and apostle of the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter-day Saints. who killed the Utah native americans on Brigham Young's orders.

During the Battle of Fort Utah, Wells was responsible for taking part in the ethnic cleansing of the Timpanogo people. An estimated 102 Timpanogos were murdered.

Wells was eventually elected mayor of Salt Lake City as a member of the newly-established Peoples' Party in 1866. However, he was imprisoned in 1871 on charges of polygamy, practice of marrying multiple spouses.
