Darrell Edward Brooks Jr. (born February 2, 1982) is an American man who committed the Waukesha Christmas parade attack, which killed 6 people and injured 62 others. He was also a rapper under the stage name MathBoi Fly and a Black Lives Matter activist.

Darrell Edward Brooks Jr. was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin by his mother Dawn Woods along with an older sister. Dawn worked as a nursing assistant at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee.[1] At the age of 11, Brooks was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and depression due to the lack of a father figure and when he was 12, his grandmother passed away, which resulted in Brooks attempted suicide numerous times at an early age.[2]
Before the parade incident, Brooks was known to be a domestic abuser, beating his partner and mother of his child for not paying his bail and intentionally running over the woman with his car. He was arrested and had previous criminal history for running over his partner before the Waukesha incident, having been released on $1,000 bail. He additionally is a registered sex offender in the state of Nevada.[3]
Parade Massacre edit
In the suburb of Waukesha, Wisconsin, there was having an annual Christmas parade on November 21, 2021, coincidentally two days after the Kyle Rittenhouse verdict, to which left Brooks very displeased. At around 4:39 p.m., he drove a red 2010 Ford Escape SUV and rammed into a multitude of people, killing 6 and injuring 62 others. Eyewitnesses of the massacre told police that the culprit drove the SUV in a "zig zag pattern" to hit as many parade participants as possible.
Brooks damaged his SUV and later sneaked into the home of Waukesha resident Daniel Rider, lying to him about being homeless and that he needed his help to call Uber. Daniel was unaware of the massacre, so he briefly allowed Brooks inside his home and offered him a sandwich and a jacket. The police came and arrested Brooks.
Brooks faced a total of 77 charges: 61 charges of first-degree reckless endangering of safety, 6 counts of first-degree intentional homicide, 6 counts of hit-and-run resulting in death, 2 counts of felony bail jumping, and 2 counts of misdemeanor battery. He was found guilty on all counts and received six sentences of life imprisonment, plus an additional 1,067 years.
Rhetoric edit
Brooks was a black supremacist who has posted several anti-white and anti-police posts on Twitter. In the wake of George Floyd's death on May 25, 2020, Brooks became loosely affiliated with the Black Lives Matter movement. He was an admirer of Malcolm X and made a rap song titled "X" in homage to the iconic revolutionary. In the song, he expresses his disapproval for the former American president Donald Trump.[4] In addition, in another one his songs, he says "fuck Donald Trump and fuck the pigs".[5]
Brooks seemed to be connected with the Black Hebrew Israelites movement as well. In 2015, Brooks shared a post on Facebook, stating that "once World War III starts, people will start to realize that Hitler was right about killing the Jews".[6]
