David Fuller is a British man responsible for the 1987 murders of Wendy Knell and Caroline Pierce. He had sex with their corpses after killing them and also raped at least 98 other dead bodies while working as an electrician at a morgue.
Biography edit
On 23 June 1987, Fuller attacked Wendy Knell in her house in Tunbridge Wells and strangled her to death before raping her corpse. Five months later, on 24 November, he attacked Caroline Pierce while she was walking through Grosvenor Park, killed her and raped her afterwards. Her body was dumped in a flooded drain. The killings, known as "the bedsit murders", were unsolved for 33 years.[1]
The case was re-opened in 2019. With modern advancements in DNA technology, police were able to link the semen from the crime scenes to a DNA sample taken from Fuller during a burglary arrest. Fuller was arrested in his house in Sussex, where police discovered a hard drive in his wardrobe. The hard drive was found to contain millions of videos and images, mostly either child pornography or Fuller raping corpses.[2] Fuller had gained access to the dead bodies through his job as an electrician at Kent and Sussex Hospital, which allowed him to access the morgue using a swipe card. In total, Fuller admitted raping 98 corpses, 78 of which were identified.[3] Police suspect him of violating thousands more corpses.
Fuller was charged with murder, sexual penetration of a corpse, possessing and making indecent images of children and voyeurism. He pleaded guilty to all charges except the two murders, citing diminished responsibility. He eventually pleaded guilty to the murders and received a whole-life order (the British equivalent of life without parole).[4] He later pleaded guilty to raping an additional 16 bodies.[5]
