Eco-terrorism is a form of extremist environmentalism in which violent acts are committed in the name of animal rights.
Most eco-terrorists tend to attack farms or laboratories to free the animals. While this cause could be seen as noble and justified by some, in most cases, eco-terrorists tend to use violent methods to obtain their objectives, ranging from burning private property, planting bombs in public places, or murder people. Also some actions of eco-terrorists can be harmful to the environment, such as releasing species in places that are not their habitat, destroying the ecocystem in the process.
The FBI considers eco-terrorists a dangerous domestic terrorism threat.
