}}'''Gao Chengyong''' (高承勇; November 10<sup>th</sup>, 1964 – January 9<sup>th</sup>, 2019), nicknamed the "Chinese Jack the Ripper", was a Chinese serial killer and rapist who murdered eleven people over the course of 14 years.

== Early Life ==
Gao was born in Gansu in 1964 and was the youngest sibling in the family. He had five elder sisters and two elder brothers, one of his brothers unfortunately drowned in a river when Gao was young. Gao attended a local high school but dropped out in his last year. He later married his wife and moved to Baiyin, a city 36 miles away from his home town. The two worked at a grocery store in a local high school.

== Criminal Life ==
Throughout 1988 to 2002, Gao raped, killed and mutilated eleven women ranging from 8 to 29-year old in eleven different occasions. Gao normally worked in his store during daytime and followed his victims home, where he would rape them before stabbing them to death. Gao also removed the hands, breasts, and reproductive organs of some of his victims. This lead to the Chinese media comparing him to [[Jack the Ripper]].

The police identified the suspect of the eleven cases to be the same person as the DNA and fingerprints found were the same. However due to the ruralness of Baiyin, no fingerprints were recorded at that time which caused difficulty to the investigation. Gao avoided capture until his uncle was arrested in mid August 2016 for an unrelated offense. The local police examined Gao's uncle's DNA and found similarity with the suspect's DNA. On August 26<sup>th</sup>, 2016, Gao was arrested.

After a detailed DNA and fingerprint test, Gao confessed to the eleven murders. Gao was sentenced to death on on March 30<sup>th</sup>, 2018 for eleven charges of murder and was executed on January 3<sup>rd</sup>, 2019. The method of execution used was not disclosed.
