Gigi Jordan (1960 - December 31, 2022) was a former socialite and millionaire who poisoned her eight-year-old autistic son Jude Mirra in 2010 before attempting suicide. Although she claimed that it was a mercy killing, there was evidence suggesting that she regarded her son as a burden and that she force-fed him a toxic cocktail despite her claims that it had been his idea. Jordan was also able to transfer money out of Jude's trust fund and into his own before she killed him.[1] It was also suggested that messages between her and Jude, who was nonverbal, in which he asked her to kill him had been faked, as they displayed a higher level of literacy than him.[2] Eventually, in 2015 Supreme Court Justice Charles Solomon sentenced her to eighteen years in prison.[3] Her conviction was later vacated in 2020 due to procedural violations and she was released on bail and placed under house arrest to await a new trial; however, her bail was revoked in December 2022 and she was ordered to return to prison. She committed suicide by self-asphyxiation hours later.[4]
