Type of Villain: Juvenile Brute

Gregory Logan Ramos is a teenager from Florida, USA, who strangled his mother to death in an argument over his grades.

On 2 November 2018, Ramos called the police and reported that his house had been ransacked when he got home from school. When police arrived they found that Ramos's mother, Gail Cleavenger, was missing, but her van was unlocked in the driveway with the engine running. A door to the house had been forced open. Ramos was interviewed by detectives and told them Cleavenger had been missing when he got home; however, they noted that he had suspicious scratches on his face.

When asked, Ramos said he got the scratches in a fight with one of his friends, but was overheard telling his stepfather that he got them falling down the stairs. He was interviewed again and once again said the scratches came from a fight at school, but named a different friend from his previous story. When pressed, he admitted to having argued with his mother the night before after he got a D grade, but claimed to have gone to his room and snuck out to go somewhere with his friends. He had then gone to school the next morning and the house had been ransacked when he got back.

Both of Ramos's friends, Dylan Caglarek and Brian Porras, were interviewed. Both eventually admitted being with Ramos on 1 November, and told police that while they were out with Ramos he had confessed to murdering his mother and got them to ransack his house and stage a break-in. Several items stolen during the staged break-in had been disposed of in the woods and in a dumpster behind a local supermarket, or else hidden in Caglarek and Porras's houses. Police were led to a fire pit where Ramos had admitted to burying Cleavenger's body.

Ramos confessed in full after hearing that his friends had talked to police. He told police that he had strangled Cleavenger during their argument about his grades, then finished her off by jumping up and down on her before binding her hands and feet, taking her out to the woods and burying her in the fire pit. He had then gone to school the next day like nothing happened. He pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to 45 years in prison with a chance of parole in 25 years.
