Heung Chin (向前; October 10th, 1907 - February 25th, 1975) was the founder of the triad Sun Yee On.
Biography edit
In 1921, Heung and other Chaozhou people from Guangdong founded a non-government organization called the "Wanan Society" (萬安社) in Hong Kong. The organization was later renamed to the "Yee On Society" (義安社).
During the China civil war, Heung and the Yee On Society declaired loyalty to Chiang Kai-shek. Heung was given the rank Major General, and became a core member of Republic of China's back-up team.
After Chiang's defeat in the civil war, Heung's Yee On Society was declared by the Communist Party of China as an illegal organization and warranted an arrest on Heung. Heung fleed to Taiwan and passed the Society to his eldest son Heung Wah-yim. The Yee On Society would also change its name to Sun Yee On (the new Yee On Society).
On February 25th, 1975, Heung passed away in Taiwan. His body was cremated and the ashes were delivered back to Hong Kong.
