Ian Richard Kyle Paisley, Baron Bannside, PC (April 6th, 1926 – September 12th, 2014) was a loyalist politician and Protestant religious leader from Northern Ireland.
Paisley was one of the driving forces in Sectarianism in Northern Ireland and held a strong hatred for Catholics and other groups. In the 1960s, he had the opportunity to end the violence against Catholics but opted not to. He opposed the good Friday agreement and wanted the Northern Irish troubles to continue on. Paisley had a strong administration for the infamous Oliver Cromwell and cited the 1970 Cromwell film as his all-time favourite film.
In his later years, he took the attitude he had changed but would refuse to take any responsibility to sectarianism or any other vile deeds he championed during the troubles. He died on September 12 2014 at the age of 88.
He played a strong part in discrimination against Catholics and other groups he hated even today, many seen him as a bully who used religion as an excuse to get away with his brutish behaviour, he also had an intense hatred for groups such as homosexuals and anyone who opposed his extremism.
