Ismaaiyl Abdullah Brinsley (31st October 1986 - 20th December 2014) was a Nuwaubian Nation member who killed two NYPD police officers in revenge for the killings of Eric Garner and Michael Brown by police officers.

On the 20th of December 2014, Brinsley attempted to commit suicide but was stopped by his girlfriend Shaneka Nicole Thompson, who he then shot and wounded. After arriving in Brooklyn by bus, he approached a police car driven by Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu, and fired four shots into the car, killing both of them. When responding police officers arrived, Brinsley fled to the Myrtle-Willoughby Avenues subway station, where he committed suicide with a shot to the head.

Alt-Right pundits such as Christopher Cantwell praised the killings of the police officers, despite the crimes having been perpetrated by a Black man who was a member of a Black Supremacy group. US president Barack Obama condemned the shooting, however former New York City mayor Rudolph Giuliani accused him of causing the shooting by creating a hostile environment towards the police. New York City mayor Bill de Blasio was also accused by people such as former Governor George Pataki of motivating Brinsley to kill the officers with divisive anti-police rhetoric due to his policy of police reforms, although both he and former police officer Eric Adams denied that police reforms equalled police retribution. Despite this, de Blasio was rejected by police officers, who turned their backs to him during his visit to the hospital where Ramos and Liu were pronounced dead. To show his solidarity with the police, de Blasio asked that anti-police protestors suspend demonstrations. The shooting also motivated two NYPD officers to brutally beat African-American woman Karin Baker in retaliation.
