== Response == [[Alt-Right]] pundits such as [[Christopher Cantwell]] praised the killings of the police officers, despite the crimes having been perpetrated by a Black man who was a member of a [[Black Supremacy]] group. US president Barack Obama condemned the shooting, however former New York City mayor Rudolph Giuliani accused him of causing the shooting by creating a hostile environment towards the police. New York City mayor Bill de Blasio was also accused by people such as former Governor George Pataki of motivating Brinsley to kill the officers with divisive anti-police rhetoric due to his policy of police reforms, although both he and former police officer Eric Adams denied that police reforms equalled police retribution. Despite this, de Blasio was rejected by police officers, who turned their backs to him during his visit to the hospital where Ramos and Liu were pronounced dead. To show his solidarity with the police, de Blasio asked that anti-police protestors suspend demonstrations. The shooting also motivated two NYPD officers to brutally beat African-American woman Karin Baker in retaliation.
