Ivan "Chip" Frederick (born 1966) is a former Staff Sergeant in the US Army. He was convicted of being one of the many soldiers involved in the Abu Ghraib torture and prisoner abuse scandal. His abuses included punching a man so hard in the chest he was almost killed and had to be resuscitated, forcing three prisoners to masturbate, placing multiple detainees in rooms that were about three feet high, depriving Iraqis of sleep and carrying out mock executions. There are also pictures of Frederick sitting on a prisoner. He was sentenced to eight years in prison on a plea deal that involved him agreeing to testify against other soldiers. He was paroled in 2007. After his release, he started his life anew, and it is currently unknown what happened to him and where he currently is.
