~ Their slogan. |
Japanese Society for History Textbook Reform (新しい歴史教科書を作る会, Atarashī Rekishi-Kyōkasyo wo Tsukuru Kai) is an ultranationalist movement formed in 1996. Their goal is to "create history textbooks that will make Japan proud," but they have produced textbooks that deny various incidents and war crimes committed by Japan in the past and contain discriminatory content against foreign countries, which have never been adopted to date. Before the split of the organization, they also made speeches and movements on the streets, which disturbed people's traffic.
Biography edit
Before the Gulf War, Hujioka Nobukatsu was a member of Communist Party of Japan, but after the end of the Cold War, he had his own view of history that did not belong to either the right or the left, and at the same time Hujioka turned to conservatism. In December 1996, I formed the "Japanese Society for History Textbook Reform" with Kanji Nishio and other volunteers.
The group criticizes existing Japanese history textbooks for being poisoned by a self-defeating view of history that demeans Japan more than necessary, and aims to create and disseminate textbooks to replace them so that children can have confidence and responsibility as Japanese.
The group is supported by Nippon Kaigi, and conservative politicians are often seen supporting the group, suggesting that the group is specifically dedicated to anti-Korean and anti-Chinese propaganda. The group has been splitting since 1998, and in June 2006, a separate group, the Textbook Improvement Association, was established. Also the textbooks produced by the group will be published by Ikuhensha, which was established by Fusosha with 300 million yen invested by Fuji TV. In response to this response, the group, through its lawyers, decided to terminate the contract as of June 13, 2007.
Arson by Kakumeigun edit
On August 7, 2001, "Kakumeigun (革命軍; Revolutionary Army)", a left-wing extremist group, set fire to the headquarters office of the Japanese society for History Textbook Reform with a timed ignition device.
The fire was quickly extinguished and only a window was damaged. However, the area near the office where the fire was set was lined with houses, and if to extinguish the fire had been slow, it could have turned into a large fire. The police investigated this terrorism by far-left extremists, but on August 10, a person claiming to be from the Kakumeigun mailed a statement to various news organizations, and the police determined from the text that the Revolutionary Workers' Association was responsible for the attack.
