He was arrested for the crime, but was shot and killed by Jody's father Gary Plauché before he could face trial. ==Biography== Not much is known about Doucet's early life other than that he was born in Port Arthur in 1959. According to Doucet, he was sexually abused as a child. Doucet also claimed to have molested a number of children, although he couldn't remember how many. He was charged with sexual molestation of a minor at one point but it was expunged from his record. At an unknown point, Doucet relocated to Baton Rouge and took a job as a karate instructor. He met and befriended the Plauché family and was well-liked by all of his students, especially Jody Plauché. He would regularly take his students skating or to the cinema, and even attended a dinner party held by Gary Plauché. However, during a camping trip in 1983, Doucet began to sexually touch Jody and slept in his sleeping bag with him. This soon escalated to rape, after which Doucet would abuse Jody every day, sometimes twice, for the next few months. Doucet was arrested in 1984 for cheque fraud, but was released on bail. On February 19, the day he was due to appear in court, Doucet went to the Plauché house under the pretext of running an errand and abducted Jody. He drove him all the way from Baton Rouge to California, passing through Port Arthur, New Mexico and Arizona. Doucet, his mental state deteriorating rapidly, regularly molested Jody all through the journey. He passed Jody off as his son in order to avoid suspicion. He also allowed Jody to regularly call his mother. Eventually they arrived at Disneyland, Doucet's intended destination. However, on February 29 the FBI were able to trace one of Jody's calls. This allowed them to track down and arrest Doucet and return Jody to his parents. Doucet was extradited to Louisiana to be charged with aggravated kidnapping. Doucet arrived at Baton Rouge airport on March 16. As he was lead off the plane, Gary Plauché walked past and shot Doucet in the side of the head before being immediately apprehended by Doucet's guards. Doucet died a day later. Gary was convicted of manslaughter and received a seven-year suspended sentence and five years probation.
