Joseph Walter Jackson (July 26, 1928 - June 27, 2018) was famously known as the father of the Jackson 5, notably Michael Jackson. Despite being known as the father of the beloved Michael Jackson, he was also well known for abusing his children. Because of this, he does not have a good reputation among the general public. He would force his children to perform music for him, which later made them famous, particularly Michael, however, he would brutally beat them anytime they made a mistake. This alone caused Michael in particular to fear him throughout his childhood. In addition to the cruel treatment of his children, he also allegedly mistreated his wife Katherine, as he was rumored to have been unfaithful to her.
