John Francis Duffy and David Mulcahy are a duo of serial rapists better known as the Railway Rapists in the United Kingdom. Both were responsible for assaulting many women and children at railway stations during the 1980s.
The assaults started in 1982, when a woman was raped by two men near Hampstead Heath railway station. Over the next year, at least eighteen more women were attacked, typically late at night in the dark. The duo later became infamous after the murder of 19-year-old Alison Day, who was sexually assaulted, strangled and drowned. They were later confirmed to be the murderers of schoolgirl Maartje Tamboezer and secretary Anne Lock.
Both were eventually apprehended later on, with Duffy being arrested in 1988 first and Mulcahy being followed for his assistance in 1999. They both were eventually given a life imprisonment.
