John Christ Patsalos, aka John Patler (born 6th January 1938) is a former member of the American Nazi Party who was convicted of killing the group's founder George Lincoln Rockwell in 1967. He was honourably discharged from the military after his membership of the group was revealed. After this, he changed his name to "Patler" in order to make it sound more like Hitler. Patler became cartoonist for the group's magazine Stormtrooper, before being expelled from the Party for alleged Communist leadings after an argument with Rockwell. In revenge, Patler shot and killed Rockwell as he left a self-service laundry in Virginia. He was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment, but was paroled after under eight years. He later received a further six year sentence after violating his parole.
