The incident started when Nuezca trespassed in the Gregorio household over the use of a noisemaker cannon, or a boga. Nuezca, in civilian clothes, confronted the Gregorios, shouting at them and even swearing at them, despite the presence of other children, including his daughter.  


The situation intensified when Nuezca's daughter, Elisha intervened by yelling "No! My father is a policeman!" to the two Gregorios. Once Sonia Gregorio replied back "I don't care, eh eh eh eh eh!" On January 10, 2021, Jonel Nuezca pleaded "not guilty", in which he was arrested 7 months later at New Bilibid Prison.
