Juozas Jermalavicius
Jermalavicius Juozas 04 02 1940Vergakiemis (Daugai county), Lithuanian Soviet figure, historian. Ist. m. dr. (1983). Member of the CPSU (1962). Graduated from Vilnius University in 1964 and graduated from Leningrad Higher Party School in 1970. From 1970 to 1990 he worked at the Party History Institute under the Lithuanian Communist Party (LCP) Center Committee. 1975-79, 1983-89 lectured at Vilnius University; professor (1987). He opposed the restoration of Lithuania's independence. At the 20th Congress of the LCP (12 December 1989), when the LCP was established as an independent member of the LCP, it remained a member of the leadership of the LCP (CPSU) and later organized the authorities subordinate to the USSR. Member of the LCP (CPSU) Temporary Center Committee and its bureau since 12 December 1989, member of the LCP (CPSU) Central Committee, its bureau and head of the ideological division. Congress of the pro-Soviet Lithuanian Democratic Forces (1990-91), Lithuanian National Rescue Committee (1991) one of the managers. With others held the unsuccessful January thirteenth (1991), assisted in USSR aggression against the Republic of Lithuania. After the failed August Putsch (1991) fled to the USSR. Arrested in Minsk on 01.01.1994 and transferred to Lithuania by the Belarusian authorities. He was sentenced to eight years in prison for the creation of anti-government organizations and attempted coup d'état on 08.08.1999; In 2007, he obtained the citizenship of the Russian Federation while in prison, and continued to slander the Republic of Lithuania. Since 2002 lives in Russia. Based on Soviet ideology, he wrote works, compiled collections of papers and articles, mainly on Communist upbringing and atheism, including the book Atheist Upbringing in Soviet Lithuania (1976).
