In 1930 he was co-opted into the Central Committe of the Lithuanian Communits Party (LCP Central Committee) and his political office.After returning to Lithuania in 1931, he served as secretary of the Central Committee of the Lithuanian Communist Party. Imprisoned since 12 December 1931. 1933 When the USSR and Lithuania exchanged hostages and prisoners, they left for the Soviet Union. 1937-39 participated in the Spanish Civil War, joined the Spanish Communist Party; In early 1939 he was interned in France.
