Imprisoned since 12 December 1931. 1933 When the USSR and Lithuania exchanged hostages and prisoners, they left for the Soviet Union. 1937-39 participated in the Spanish Civil War, joined the Spanish Communist Party; In early 1939 he was interned in France. Between 1939 and 1940 he worked as an editor at a publishing house in Moscow. 06 June 1940 After the USSR occupation of Lithuania, he arrived in Kaunas on 7 July 1940, until 1948 he was secretary of propaganda and agitation of the Central Committee of the Lithuanian Communist Party. He uncompromisingly supported J. Stalin's policy in the USSR and in Lithuania. In 1944-45, after the Soviet occupation of Lithuania, he was one of the most influential ideology leaders of the Central Committee of the Lithuanian Communist Party: he inspired political and repressive actions of the Lithuanian people evaluation. 1948-60 Council of Ministers of the LSSR vice-chairman. Inspired the destruction and destruction of cultural heritage, contributed to deportations. 1959-61 Minister of Foreign Affairs of the LSSR. 1941 and 1945-54 Communist magazine executive editor.
